1) Man, I suck at updating anything anymore. I don't even have the excuse of being busy 'cuz I only worked 3 days last week and don't have to go in 'til Wednesday this week.

2) Finally got to go see some movies:

National Treasure: Book of Secrets: Overall was good, though it felt like they were really stretching for a reason for them going treasure-hunting again. How many historically significant relatives can this guy have? Clearly setting up for a 3rd, which thankfully should not have any reason more noble than Ben Gates made a deal in this one.

The Golden Compass: I never read the books until I heard about this movie (I'm still not quite done with The Amber Spyglass), and I wouldn't call myself a huge fan, so I wasn't really upset with most of the changes. Just a little annoyed b/c they changed the order of events for no apparent reason. I could cope if it somehow moved the story along faster or more excitingly, but it didn't so mostly I'm just confused. And I thought I'd buy into the whole daemon thing better once I could see it, but I remain unmoved by the shock of seeing a kid w/o a daemon or the taboo of not touching other people's daemons. Still, it was entertaining. Really curious how they're going to pull off book 3 w/o the anti-religious content.

Juno: Awesome. Just so funny and sad and perfect. Not a slow scene in the whole thing. I love this movie.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street: First off, I don't think anyone could have done a better job than Tim Burton directing this. Johnny Depp is perfect as Sweeney. Like one review said, neither he nor Helena Bonham Carter are very strong singers, but I think that's a point in their favor. It suits the characters. I'm generally not a fan of musicals, but this one is demented enough that it makes up for the constant singing.

3) Brother's girlfriend is here. I'm not sure what to think of her yet. Right now I'm mostly annoyed that she's hogging time that should obviously be spent hanging out with me, and a tiny bit disgusted with myself for it. She's much more of a girly-girl than his past gf's, and it sort of annoys me. And it's been awhile since I was around anyone still seemed so young at 20. She doesn't seem cynical enough to get along with either me or, more importantly, my brother. I guess I don't quite see why he's with her, but then I only met her two days ago.
